This grant-supported program is for applicants who attend high school or college (ages 151/2- 25years).

Miguel Ruiz, DPM started his professional journey as an intern in our Healthcare Workforce Development program. Now, as a podiatrist, he's helping people in his community get and stay healthy.

Requirements and Benefits

Intern and Volunteer Requirements

English speaking required. Bilingual Preferred.
PPD tuberculosis (TB) skin test done within 2 months of application date. If history of positive PPD: Copy of chest x-ray results done within 3 years of actual start date.
Documentation of negative TB test (or negative chest x-ray for TB)
Proof of appropriate immunizations (i.e., MMR-Measles, mumps, and rubella)
Varicella titer (only if you have had Chicken Pox) or immunization if you desire to work with children.
Influenza Vaccine Seasonal
COVID-19 Vaccine.Adventist Health requires COVID-19 primary vaccination series or an approved medical/religious exemption for all healthcare personnel, per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission (TJC) regulatory requirement. The COVID-19 first booster dose will no longer be required for healthcare personnel and providers in California per the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) unless required by local public health.
Background checks will be conducted if the participant is 18 years or older. Asocial security number is required.Individuals who refuse to comply with this requirement will not be allowed to enroll in the program.
If you are accepted into the program, as a high school student (15.5 years or older) a valid, issued photo identification (school identification) will be required.
Students 17 years old and up are required to provide a valid, government-issued photo ID with your signature i.e.: unexpired driver's license, government issued identification card, military identification or passport.
