Ukiah Valley

Volunteer

Examples of volunteer positions include:

  • Patient Ambassador volunteers spend time visiting with patients. During this time volunteers provide comfort by watering flowers, inquiring about meal satisfaction, helping patients understand room amenities and sharing the gift of time and attention.
  • Gift Shop volunteers are a gift themselves to our patients, visitors, nurses and doctors who come into the Bountiful gift shop to purchase gifts, indulge their sweet tooth or simply “take a break” from the day.
  • Front Desk volunteers set the tone for the caring environment visitors will experience while on campus. As a front desk volunteer you will assist guests with directions, escort visitors to the appropriate department and answer any other questions.

Volunteers may also serve in areas such as the Emergency Room, the Advanced Wound Care Center, the Obstetrics Department, Oncology, or Employee Wellness.

Volunteers at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley are encouraged to make a one year commitment although the majority of our volunteers stay on for many years. The shift is only 3 ½ hours long per week and you receive a free delicious lunch in the cafeteria.

Long term studies have shown that, in general, volunteers live longer, are in better health, have lower rates of depression and less heart disease. “The benefits of volunteer work are numerous. As you help others, your own problems fade and your spirit is lighter! We have a fun team that truly enjoys giving back," states Felicia Eriksen, Volunteer Services Manager at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley.

“We reflect God's love to our community by providing physical, mental and spiritual healing.” Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s mission statement is at the heart of the Volunteer Services Department.
