Modern medicine with a whole-person approach

Adventist Health Physicians Network is proud to introduce Dr. Lauren Carpenter and Dr. Rajinder Maan. They are delivering care in the communities they serve by combining modern medicine with an old-fashioned twist of whole-person care.
They are inspiring healthy living that involves the patient being engaged every step of the way. It’s the future of medicine and it’s already at AHPN! Meet our physicians.
Lauren Carpenter, MD, family practice, recently joined Adventist Health Physicians Network. Her story is an inspiring one. An honors anatomy and physiology class in high school set her eyes on medicine. Her personal health journey at the time led her towards a path in ministry. While in the seminary, her health improved and she was able to follow her calling to become a doctor, to heal patients and help them achieve their own dreams.
Dr. Carpenter approaches medicine using her osteopathic background to provide whole-person care while incorporating behavioral therapy and alternative approaches. “I work with my patients to look beyond their symptoms to understand how lifestyle and environmental factors impact their wellbeing,” says Dr. Carpenter. “Together, we come up with a treatment plan that will work for them and their recovery.”
Life came full circle for Dr. Carpenter when she started working at Adventist Health Simi Valley Family Practice, the same clinic where she grew up receiving care. She is thrilled to be home to serve the community she loves.
Dr. Carpenter attended Loma Linda University School of Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Missouri and is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Carpenter is accepting new patients.

Rajinder Maan, MD, family practice, joined Adventist Health Physicians Network in Alamo Hills to serve an organization with a mission and philosophy that aligns with his own. He became a physician to fulfill a personal passion to care for patients through every stage of their lives and improve the overall health of communities. Today, he lives his own mission by working closely with patients to establish health goals and make sure they are successful in their health journey, no matter their age.
Dr. Maan emphasizes preventative care by treating the whole-person. “I address health concerns at the start, before they become larger issues,” says Dr. Maan. “It’s really important to get to know a patient’s physical and personal history… and find out what is important to them. Together we set goals with little lifestyle changes that can make a big difference to prevent serious illness and complications.”
Dr. Maan attended St. George’s University in the West Indies. He completed his family medicine residency at Aultman Hospital in Ohio and is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is located at Alamo Hills Medical Group in Simi Valley and is accepting new patients. He is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi.
