What to Expect

Our Tillamook wound care team is here to help

From start to finish, we try to keep you informed of every aspect of your treatment. Our goal is to help your wounds heal as quickly as possible.

Your first visit

Your first appointment will consist of an in-depth assessment by our wound care certified RN, a review of your medical history and recommendations for your treatment plan. Please bring your medical records, insurance card, a list of all medications you are taking and a list of any allergies you may have.

Your treatment

We will tailor a treatment program based upon the type of wound you have and the underlying problems causing your wound. This program will include regular visits for treatment, to evaluate progress and to make any necessary changes. You may be prescribed various forms of treatment such as:

  • Infectious disease management
  • Physical therapy
  • Vascular and/or laboratory evaluation
  • Nutritional management
  • Pain management
  • Diabetic education
  • Debridement (deep cleaning of the wound)

In addition, you or your caregiver will be given detailed instructions for at home care, dressing (bandage) changes and protecting the wound from further injury.

Your treatment team

The wound care nurse works with your primary care doctor (or specialist) to deliver the best treatment possible. We will keep your physician updated on your progress and consult with them as needed.

Your insurance

Medicare and many other health plans cover wound care treatment. Your coverage depends upon your specific plan. Be sure to bring your insurance card with you when you visit outpatient therapy services for wound care.

Your part in the healing process

You have an important part to play in healing successfully. Keeping your appointments, following directions for at-home care and making suggested lifestyle changes will all contribute enormously to your healing process.
