The minimally invasive approach to orthopedic surgery

Minimally invasive surgeries are procedures done with only a few small incisions, as opposed to open surgery which requires larger incisions for the surgeon to work. In a minimally invasive procedure, imaging technology is used to give the surgeon a better look at the operating area.

Because fewer incisions are needed, the risk of an infection is lower. Patients can recover from the surgery faster. Additionally, more targeted incisions mean surrounding tissue is not strained from the surgery, resulting in less discomfort for the patient.

Minimally invasive surgery can be used for joint replacement, back pain treatment and many other purposes. Some of the minimally invasive orthopedic procedures include shoulder, knee, wrist and hip arthroscopy; spine surgery; and total joint replacement.

We always look for the least invasive treatment

With any medical condition, but particularly orthopedic care, you and your care team should explore less-invasive options before considering surgery. Surgery is a last resort treatment for muscle aches and pains. In many cases, these conditions can be treated with physical therapy, stretches and medication.

When these treatments fail to manage the pain and you continue to experience a limited range of movement, you should start discussing therapy with your orthopedists Our experienced orthopedists will help you explore all your options.

We carefully evaluate patient conditions to determine what the most helpful, safe and cost-effective treatment will be. Schedule an appointment today to start working with our team.
