Information for Visitors

COVID-19 Safety Measures

To keep our patients, staff and community safe and help prevent the spread of COVID-19, there are some restrictions to visitation in the Surgery Department. In accordance with California Department of Public Health guidelines, visitors are allowed in the surgical pre-op area. Adult surgery patients are allowed one visitor, and pediatric surgery patients are allowed two visitors.

Please review the current Surgery visiting guidelines for complete information.

Visiting Guidelines

Helping a loved one through a surgical procedure can be a stressful experience. Our goal is to provide you with excellent communication and a comfortable environment to make your experience as positive as possible.

Some of the features we provide include:

  • A Family Communication Board- located in the surgery waiting room, allowing you to find information about where your loved one is in the surgery process.
  • Excellent Communication- our nurses will provide you with information about how long the procedure will take and will also explain some of the processes to help put you at ease.
  • Volunteers– stationed in the surgery waiting areas to help with the patient check-in process and answer questions. They can help you determine if you have time to leave the waiting area and estimate how long the process will take.
  • Refreshments- hot coffee and other refreshments are available in the surgery waiting areas. On the main campus of Adventist Health Sonora, the Garden Café serves breakfast and lunch.
