Art of Healing

Sutures, bandages and medicine are the tools that our healthcare staff use to restore the body. However we can’t ignore the power of the mind and the stimulating effect on art in the healing process. Art inspires the should which in turn heals and rejuvenates the body.

— The Medicine of Art: A Retrospective of Public Art in NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation, 1977

Our Art of Healing Campaign provided the resources essential for a collection of beautiful artwork, which has been installed in the new Rideout Regional Medical Center. Our sponsors are many of the artists featured throughout have a Yuba-Sutter or regional connection, many of whom enjoy national and international reputations.

The installations include a variety of art forms such as:

  • Paintings, pastels and prints
  • Photography
  • Collage and mixed media
  • Metal, wood and fabric sculpture

Enjoy the photos of just SOME of the artwork which can be found on every floor of our hospital.
