Diagnosing and treating GI conditions
At Adventist Health Lodi Memorial’s gastroenterology laboratory — known as the GI Lab — physician specialists use a variety of tools and procedures to examine segments of the continuous passageway through the body that encompasses the digestive system.
Some of the diagnostic procedures we perform include:
- Interventional endoscopy:This inspects the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. It is used to screen, diagnose, manage and treat ailments such as colon and rectal bleeding, disease of the esophagus, gallbladder disease, gastric/stomach disease, reflux disease and pancreatic disease.
- Endoscopic ultrasound:Endoscopic ultrasonography allows our highly trained specialists to examine your esophageal and stomach linings, as well as the walls of your upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.
- ERCP:Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, or ERCP, is a specialized technique used to study the bile ducts, pancreatic duct and gallbladder.
- Colonoscopy:Colonoscopy evaluates abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits and screens for colorectal cancer.
