We also provide rapid consultation for newly diagnosed patients within two days.
Our breast cancer program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and is a recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Our comprehensive services include:
Screening and diagnostic mammography
Breast screenings are the key to cancer prevention. Finding cancer early and receiving state-of-the-art cancer treatment are two of the most important strategies for preventing deaths from breast cancer. Our radiologists are experts in screening and detection of breast abnormalities that might require further study or treatment. Procedures include US-Guided, MRI-guided and stereotactic biopsies. We offer in-house pathology for biopsies and coordination with outside partners for tumor typing.
Specialist visits
Specialists practicing on-site at The Sam and Grace Carvajal Comprehensive Breast Center include breast surgeons, medical breast specialists and plastic/reconstructive surgeons. Priority is given to providing urgent appointments to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
This clinic is staffed by a nurse practitioner and includes exams, risk assessment, genetic counseling and testing, and screening and follow-up for women at high risk for breast cancer.
Lymphedema screening
The Sam and Grace Carvajal Comprehensive Breast Center utilizes the SOZO device, the world’s most advanced bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) device, to diagnose and assess lymphedema (arm swelling) in less than 30 seconds, both pre- and post-treatment.
Multidisciplinary breast tumor board
Tumor boards are a treatment planning process with multidisciplinary team of experts meeting regularly to decide as a group on the best treatment plan for a patient.
Genetic counseling and testing
Genetic counseling is available to evaluate your risk of carrying breast cancer mutations that increase your risk of having cancer. Testing for genetic mutations is available on site at The Sam and Grace Carvajal Comprehensive Breast Center.
Patient navigation
