When you need care, the last thing you want is to think about how to pay for it.

Our financial services team understands and wants to help you work through how to cover the healthcare you need. Here are some ways we help you pay for healthcare:

If you have commercial health insurance

We call your insurance company to verify eligibility and benefit coverage, including whether prior authorization and/or precertification is required for hospitalization or surgery. Most commercial insurance companies require the patient to notify them of a hospital admission. Our Patient and Visitor Services office is here to assist you in this process. If you receive Medicare or Medicaid benefits

We bill your insurance for you. Deductibles and co-payments are your responsibility, unless they are covered by a supplemental insurance plan.

If you do not have health insurance

We are here to help! Please contact a patient accounts representative at541-296-7504to discuss your payment options. Financial assistance may be available under certain circumstances.

Understanding your bills

Your bill reflects all of the services you receive during your stay at Adventist Health Columbia Gorge. Charges fall into two categories:

  1. A basic daily rate, which includes your room, meals, nursing care, housekeeping, telephone and television.
  2. Charges for special services, which may include physician-ordered services such as X-rays, laboratory tests or surgical procedures.

If certain tests or treatments are performed during your stay, you may receive bills from physicians you did not see in person. These fees are for professional services involved in the diagnosis and interpretation of your test results. Examples include radiologists, pathologists, anesthesiologists and other physicians who perform these services and are required to submit a bill separate from the hospital’s bill. If you have any questions regarding this, please call the number on the statement you received from that provider.

Patient financial advocate

The patient financial advocate assists low-income Oregon residents with Oregon Health Plan eligibility and applications. They can be reached by phone at541-296-7221from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Refunds for overpayment

Sometimes insurance comes back with a different payment than expected. In the event we verify you are owed a refund due to an overpayment, that refund will be credited to the original credit card you used for payment or by mailing a check to you. All requests are handled in a timely manner. For any questions concerning a refund due or about our policy, please call541-296-7504.
