Scholarships and Grants

Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation is proud to offer the following scholarships and grants.

Randy Rood Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship provides support to local graduates who might not otherwise be able to make college a reality. Each year, selected seniors graduating from The Dalles, Dufur, Sherman County and South Wasco County high schools are eligible to receive $2,500 for up to five years. Award decisions are based on the interview, application, personal essay(s), financial eligibility, high school academic record, activities and letters of recommendation. Incomplete, inaccurate or late applications will not be considered. Check back for the 2025 application packet.

Wasco Lodge Masonic Scholarship

Each year, the Wasco Lodge Masonic Scholarship committee awards scholarships to a graduating senior from The Dalles, Dufur and Sherman County high schools. Based on applications, students will be selected for an interview with the committee. Scholarships are awarded based on application, interview, essay, academic record, activities and letters of recommendation. Check back for the 2025 application packet.

Nursing scholarships

The Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation offers three nursing scholarships for local nursing students, the applications for which open June 1, 2025:

Evelyn Kaser Nursing Scholarship

In memory of Evelyn Kaser, longtime nurse and community member, this scholarship helps local students attending nursing school who plan to practice in the Columbia River area.

Lorna and Joseph Halliday Family Nursing Scholarship

Established in memory of nurse Lorna, along with her late husband, Joseph. Both Lorna and Joseph were beloved volunteers at Adventist Health Columbia Gorge. This scholarship helps local students who have been accepted into a nursing program.

Nontraditional Nursing Student Scholarship

This scholarship is in honor of Pam Clausen for her dedication to healthcare showcased by her years as a nurse and as an Adventist Health Columbia Gorge and foundation board member. Scholarships are awarded to nursing students who have experienced an interruption in their education and are returning to school.

Area of Greatest Need Grant

Thanks to our Area of Greatest Need Fund, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation is able to assist nonprofit organizations throughout the region with projects that improve the health of our communities. Grants are made possible through generous donations from community members. This grant is awarded up to two times per year, with due dates in July and December. The foundation board typically awards one grant of up to $5,000 per grant cycle. EmailAHCGfoundation@ah.orgfor application.
