December DAISY Award Winner- Chris Sumner
Dec 20, 2021
We are thrilled to honor our second DAISY Award winner at our hospital this month. The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that rewards excellence in nursing. It was created by The DAISY Foundation to recognize the clinical skills, extraordinary compassion and care exhibited by nurses every day.
Last week, we were so proud to honor our second awardee who is known by his peers as helpful, a great leader, excellent provider of patient care and makes patients feel very safe. Chris Sumner is an RN that works in our Adventist Health Mendocino Coast Medical Offices as the RN manager for our three clinics and was nominated four times by his peers.
One person wrote, “Chris is always willing to help and goes above and beyond on a daily basis. We can always count on him and know that the patient will be well taken care of. There is no one else who is more deserving of this award.”
Another person who watched Chris in tough situations push through to ensure the best possible patient care wrote, “There are many situations when Chris has come in to assist patients with flying colors. One time that comes to mind was when a patient could not afford to get a medical bed, Chris stepped up and worked for days to trying to get one for the patient to help.”
We have numerous accounts of his team members who speak so candidly about the amazing leadership Chris provides. We see him regularly step up, go above and beyond for his patients and staff and makes the medical offices and our hospital campus a wonderful place to work beside him.
Chris is a natural born leader, incredible nurse and a huge asset to our team. He will regularly say, “It’s not me, it’s we. We will work together and if I can’t find a way, we will find a way.” He is key member of our team, a brilliant, shining star at our Medical Officers and truly a force for good at Adventist Health.
Congratulations, Chris! Thank you for your dedication to providing exceptional care for our patients and a remarkable leader to our staff. Your hard work and excellence in patient care are not only admired by our staff, but by the patients you care for.
Join us in congratulating Chris on this extraordinary accomplishment!
