Nurse Nick Demetrion Goes Above and Beyond for Patient

Nick Demetrion, RN, is our new DAISY Award Winner!Nurses like Nick go above and beyond every day to not only provide patients and families with excellence in clinical care but also compassion. The DAISY Foundation aims to honor Nick and other nurses by showing profound gratitude for all that they do. The program celebrates and recognizes nurses by collecting nominations from patients, families and co-workers.

This ceremony was extra special because Nick's family surprised him by their attendance, as did our patient Shauna Hemming who nominated Nick. In her nomination, Shauna wrote, “He was beyond attentive, caring and, honestly, just pure perfection. There really aren’t enough words to describe what a special human being Nick is and what a vital role he played in my care.”

“His approachable nature and genuine concern for others have fostered meaningful relationships throughout the hospital,” said Elizabeth Gomez, RN, Nurse Manager and Patient Experience Manager. “His ability to bring joy and comfort to both his colleagues and patients is exceptional.”

“Nick's impact extends beyond his professional achievements,” said Mark Mitchelson, RN, Patient Care Executive. “He takes great pride in his work and continuously seeks opportunities to learn and grow, always striving to be the best nurse he can be.”
