How do you know if you need to see a urologist?
The symptoms for men and women are different. If you are experiencing pelvic pain, leaking urine, blood in the urine, reproductive issues (for men), or if you think you have a kidney stone, you should make an appointment to see a urologist.
Do I need a referral from my provider?
Each health care plans have different requirements for seeing a specialist. Our Patient Access team will assist you if need a referral from your primary care provider.
What should I expect during my first visit with a urologist?
Prepare for you visit by bringing a complete list of all your medications, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and supplements that you take. If you think you may not remember all the names of everything you take, bring all your medications with you. You should expect to provide a urine sample before or during your exam.
During your first visit, the urologist listens to your concerns and works with you to determine the best treatment for your urological condition. The urologist will review your medical history and carefully review how your health past and current health impacts your urological issues. The urologist and you will work together on a treatment plan that is right for your needs.
