Kerry L. Heinrich
President and CEO
Kerry L. Heinrich assumed responsibilities as President and Chief Executive Officer of Adventist Health in 2022. Heinrich, who served on Adventist Health’s board for seven years, is passionate about the organization’s mission and culture. Under his leadership, Adventist Health has expanded its network of care with additional hospitals and clinics and seen a systemwide rise in associate engagement. Named by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know in 2016 and 2017, he also previously served as CEO of Loma Linda University Health’s six medical centers for more than seven years and as the organization’s legal counsel for more than 30 years. Heinrich’s responsibilities as CEO included leadership and support of Loma Linda University Health’s six hospitals. He also helped guide the construction of the 16-story adult hospital tower and the nine-story Children’s Hospital tower that opened in 2021. After earning his bachelor’s degree in history and business from Walla Walla University in Washington, Kerry earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oregon’s School of Law.
Todd Hofheins
Chief Operating Officer
Todd Hofheins serves as Chief Operating Officer of Adventist Health. In this role, he leads the organization’s administrative, managerial, and operations functions. A visionary executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience, Mr. Hofheins previously served as CFO and EVP for HealthPartners, the largest consumer-governed, nonprofit healthcare organization in the U.S., with over 1.8 million health plan members nationwide. While there, he developed business and economic strategies to support fiscal and Triple Aim goals and marketplace performance. Mr. Hofheins earned his bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Pacific Lutheran University in Washington and is a certified public accountant. For two years, he was named one of Modern Healthcare magazine's CFOs to Know. Mr. Hofheins is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the NexCore Group advisory board and a board member for Synchronous Health and innovAge.
John Beaman
Chief Financial Officer
John Beaman assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer for Adventist Health in January 2022. In this role, Mr. Beaman focuses on the organization’s long-term financial viability, including overall fiduciary responsibility, strategic leadership, and operational management for financial services. Prior to this role, Mr. Beaman served as System Chief Business and People Officer, System Senior Finance Officer, and Chief Financial Officer of Adventist Health hospitals in Bakersfield and Simi Valley. Mr. Beaman holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southwestern Adventist University and an MBA with an emphasis in finance from Marylhurst University. He is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Joyce Newmyer
Chief People Officer
Joyce Newmyer serves as Chief People Officer for Adventist Health. In this role, she is responsible for human resource and people strategy functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, and resident and intern programs across the system. Ms. Newmyer previously served as the system's Chief Culture Officer, responsible for shaping culture and building engagement, and as President of Adventist Health Portland and the Pacific Northwest Network. Drawing on nearly 40 years of healthcare leadership experience, Ms. Newmyer also held roles as President of Washington Adventist Hospital in Maryland and Chief Operating Officer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Kansas and Tennessee Christian Medical Center. Ms. Newmyer holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Fresno, with special emphasis in industrial relations/human resources, and a master's degree in health services administration from St. Francis University. She is an Advanced Certified Personal and Executive Coach and has been recognized by the International Coaching Federation as an Associate Certified Coach.
Arby Nahapetian, MD, MPH
Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. Arby Nahapetian serves as Chief Clinical Officer for Adventist Health. Dr. Nahapetian has served the organization in different physician leadership roles since 2013, including as Chief Medical Officer at Adventist Health Glendale Medical Center, Chief Medical Officer for the Southern California Region, and most recently as Care Division Chief Medical Officer supporting the organization’s 23 hospitals. He is a board certified cardiologist with an additional certification in nuclear cardiology. Dr. Nahapetian graduated from UCLA with a degree in economics, received his Master of Public Health at Yale School of Public Health, and completed medical school at the UC Davis School of Medicine. He completed residency and fellowships in internal medicine and cardiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a fellowship in electrophysiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Nahapetian serves as Adventist Heath's clinical care delivery leader overseeing the medical group, medical affairs, population health, quality, safety, care management, clinical informatics, and pharmacy. He is a national speaker on accountable care organizations, direct-to-employer networks, and clinical integrated care delivery.
Eric Stevens
President, Northern California Network
Eric Stevens is President of the Adventist Health Northern California Network, leading and supporting strategy and operations at our Sonora, Dameron, Lodi, Rideout, Feather River, Mendocino County, Clear Lake, St. Helena, and Vallejo communities. In addition, he oversees imaging, lab, pharmacy, home care, and hospice for the system. Mr. Stevens brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience to this role, most recently as Operations Executive of the organization's former Care Division. He also previously served as regional CEO of AdventHealth Central Florida Division, South Region, which includes 10 hospitals. Mr. Stevens has held leadership roles at Tennessee Christian Medical Center, Adventist Health Portland, and Loma Linda University Medical Center. A former registered nurse, Mr. Stevens began his 39-year healthcare career at what is now Adventist Health Glendale. He deeply understands the culture required to consistently provide high-quality, efficient, compassionate care and build strong provider relationships. In addition to a master's degree in health administration, Mr. Stevens holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Jason Wells
President, Central California Network
Jason Wells serves as the President of the Central California Network, leading the overall strategy and operational performance at Adventist Health hospitals and affiliated clinics and services in Bakersfield, Delano, Tehachapi Valley, Hanford, Tulare, Selma, and Reedley. Mr. Wells has spent nearly two decades in healthcare leadership positions, including System Chief Strategy Officer for Adventist Health where he provided leadership for consumer services, virtual health, experience, marketing, communication, brand, public affairs. Prior to his system role, Jason served as President of Adventist Health's three hospitals and clinics in Mendocino County, Calif. He earned an MBA at Benedictine University and his bachelor’s degree at Walla Walla University. Mr. Wells earned the Certified Medical Practice Executives credential (CMPE) from the American College of Medical Practice Executive and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Sam Leonor
Chief Mission Officer
Sam Leonor is Chief Mission Officer, playing an integral role in ensuring that Adventist Health’s mission and deeply cherished values are woven into every facet of strategic planning and day-to-day operations. Mr. Leonor previously served as Adventist Health’s Mission and Spiritual Care Executive since 2009, responsible for leading market mission alignment and the team of chaplains that provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families, employees, and community members. He has 30 years of experience in Adventist pastoral ministry, higher education and healthcare. Prior to joining Adventist Health, he was university chaplain and adjunct professor at La Sierra University, where he taught classes in theology and spirituality in the workplace. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious education from Southern Adventist University and a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University. He enjoys exploring the connection between spirituality and vocation through research, writing and speaking to a wide range of audiences in church, business and academic settings.
Jacalyn Liebowitz, DNP
Chief Nursing Officer
Jacalyn Liebowitz, DNP, joined Adventist Health in January 2020 as Chief Nursing Officer. In this role, Ms. Liebowitz leads Adventist Health’s clinical practice, clinical care delivery, education for nursing, and the patient care executive team. She is responsible for planning and executing systemwide care transformation initiatives, clinical workforce development, and nursing leadership development. Ms. Liebowitz is passionate about engaging nurses in bringing precise, evidenced-based care, kindness, and innovation to patients throughout the care continuum. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration and Finance at Wayne State University and her Doctor of Nursing Practice with an emphasis in systems leadership at Rush University. In addition, she is board-certified in nursing administration, a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Meredith Jobe
Chief Legal Counsel
Meredith Jobe has served as Chief Legal Counsel for Adventist Health since 2012, building and leading a legal team, providing counsel on legal and transactional matters, and overseeing contract management. Mr. Jobe also collaborates on government relations, risk management, corporate governance, compliance, IT security, and communications. He is passionate about the organization’s mission and values and works closely with leaders to support alignment in all areas of operations. Mr. Jobe brings more than four decades of experience to his role. Before joining Adventist Health, he was in private practice at firms in Los Angeles and Glendale, California. Early in his career, he worked as in-house counsel for a national company that operates department and grocery store chains. After earning a bachelor’s degree in history/political science at Loma Linda University, Mr. Jobe earned JD and MBA degrees at the University of Southern California. He is a member of the California, Oregon, and U.S. Supreme Court bars; the National Association of Parliamentarians; and the La Sierra University Board of Trustees.
